These images from Bottrell+ (2023) are synthetic near-UV/optical/near-IR images of stellar light, made using dust radiative transfer post-processing with SKIRT. They are 'idealized', neglecting observational effects such as noise, angular resolution, and projection effects, as in the corresponding 'HSC-SSP' realistic gallery. The sample of galaxies is the same: drawn from TNG50-1 and spanning redshifts 0.1 < z < 0.4 with stellar masses greater than 1010 solar masses.
