I am interested i using stellar mass as a criterion to select subhalos (galaxies) to compare with some observation. I found that for Subfind subhalos, there are two fields that can be interpreted as stellar mass:
'SubhaloMassType' for type4 AND 'SubhaloStellarPhotometricsMassInRad'
I was wondering which one is better to use?

You're right there are many possible definitions/measurements of stellar mass. In general, you should use (or create) the one which is as close as possible to the observations.
In general, as a starting point, we recommend SubhaloMassInRadType[4].
